Job summary

Archdiocese of Seattle seeks a dedicated Parish Outreach Coordinator to oversee the Holy Innocents Food Pantry, collaborating with the pastor, staff, and Outreach committee. You will recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to staff all pantry shifts and ensure smooth operations.

You will build relationships with local food sources and donors, manage the pantry budget, maintain confidential client records, and represent the pantry at community events while staying current on state and federal

  • Food handler’s certificate required or willingness to obtain one.

Job description

Position Purpose

This position is responsible for overseeing the parish outreach and working in collaboration with the pastor, staff and Outreach committee in implementing the mission of the parish.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Recruits, trains, and schedules volunteers to staff and operate all phases of the Holy Innocents Food Pantry, which involves acquisition, maintenance, and the distribution of food to clients.
  • Collaborates with pantry volunteers to secure donated food items by developing relationships with local food outlets, distributors, groceries, volunteer gleaners, and individual donors; oversees any food purchases needed and facilitates any appropriate grant applications.
  • Collaborates with current volunteers and parish staff to recruit, schedule, and train volunteers for food bank operations and finds effective systems for recognizing volunteers at least annually.
  • Works with volunteers to develop processes ensuring the facility is adequately staffed prior to opening shifts, supplies are available for expected food bank needs, and the pantry space is cleaned up and ready for other church ministries after use.
  • Manages and monitors the food pantry budget and donations, interfacing with individuals and organizations that support or donate to the pantry.
  • Maintains confidentiality and accuracy of the client database, provides periodic summary reports and analysis, and, in collaboration with the Safe Environment Coordinator, ensures volunteer files are kept up to date, including annual review of contact information, certifications, and background checks as needed.
  • Functions as the point person for all communication about the pantry, both incoming and outgoing, including inquiries, questions, concerns, referrals, and community support (i.e. food drives); collaborates with volunteers in marketing, advertising, and developing a core group of volunteers who can represent the Holy Innocents Food Pantry at community events and presentations.
  • Convenes the Parish Outreach Committee and works with the Outreach Committee Chairperson to meet and facilitate the activities of outreach at Holy Innocents.
  • Participates in appropriate workshops, conferences, and community meetings related to food banks and administration, and stays apprised of all state and federal codes/laws regarding food pantries.
  • Maintains a respectful, friendly, and cooperative environment where all are treated with compassion, dignity, and respect.
  • Cultivates relationships with other organizations providing support to community members in the Snoqualmie Valley, maintaining a proficient understanding of available resources for residents.
Qualifications
  • Experience in food pantry operations, nonprofit services, customer service, or volunteer coordination is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, clear communication, and the ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds are essential.
  • Basic computer skills for recordkeeping, email, and spreadsheets are required.
  • A food handler’s certificate, or willingness to obtain one, is required.
  • The position requires availability Monday through Wednesday, with occasional additional days and times as needed.
Salary

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
