Job summary

Washington & Jefferson College seeks a Coordinator for Employer Engagement/Career Advisor to act as a primary liaison between CCAN, employers, alumni and community partners. The role develops and maintains employer partnerships, creates experiential learning opportunities and employment pathways for students, and provides career advising and mentoring across in-person and virtual formats.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for employers and CCAN partners.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers, alumni, and community partners.
  • Lead planning and logistics for career events including fairs and info sessions.
  • Represent CCAN at campus and community events to promote engagement.
  • Coordinate internships, fellowships, and employment opportunities for students.
  • Collaborate with faculty and alumni offices to expand career-connected learning.

Summary

The Coordinator for Employer Engagement/Career Advisor serves asthe primary liaison between the Center for Career Advising andNetworking (CCAN), employers, alumni, and community partners. Thisposition develops and maintains employer partnerships that createexperiential learning opportunities and employment pathways forWashington & Jefferson College students. The coordinatorprovides career advising, cultivates employer relationships,coordinates networking and recruitment events, and promotes careerreadiness initiatives that support student success.

Duties and Responsibilities
Employer Engagement & Industry Programming
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employers and organizations engaged with CCAN.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers, recruiters, alumni, and community partners.
  • Lead the planning, logistics, and execution of signature careerevents, including career fairs, networking events, and employerinformation sessions, managing all aspects of scheduling, venuecoordination, technology, and employer recruitment.
  • Represent CCAN at campus and community events to promoteemployer engagement and student opportunities.
  • Assess event participation and outcomes to improve futureprogramming.
  • Identify and cultivate internship, practicum, fellowship, mentoring, and employment opportunities for students.
  • Collaborate with faculty, academic departments, and the Officeof Alumni Engagement to expand career-connected learningopportunities.
Career Advising & Mentoring
  • Facilitate mentoring initiatives connecting students to alumniand industry professionals.
  • Provide personalized, high-impact career advising to studentsand alumni through individual and group sessions (in-person and virtual), guiding candidates through the entire job searchlifecycle from resume creation to salary negotiation.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of institutional degree programs andbroader labor market trends to offer highly relevant, data-drivencareer advising.
  • Collaborate on the development and execution of innovativecareer education curricula, workshops, and high-visibility alumniand employer networking events.
  • Facilitate workshops, classroom presentations, informationtables, and student engagement initiatives related to career andprofessional readiness.
Internship Awards & Fellowships
  • Coordinate the promotion, application, selection, and administration of internship award programs.
  • Promote fellowship and merit-based opportunities incollaboration with faculty and academic departments.
  • Support informational programming related to competitive awardsand fellowships.
College Service
  • Participate in departmental assessment, strategic planning, and institutional initiatives.
  • Serve on College committees and perform other duties asassigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
  • One to three years of experience in career services, workforcedevelopment, recruitment, higher education, student affairs, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of career readiness frameworks and best practices instudent career development.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, organizational,and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and experientiallearning.
