Job summary

Stoughton Trailers is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety professional to help implement and manage EHS directives at the Brodhead, WI plant. The role involves developing objectives with plant leadership, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

You will collaborate with Safety Engineers and production staff to perform hazard analyses, manage training, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance across the site.

Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum bachelor's degree with 1-3 years environmental, health, and safety experience in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulations and best practices; familiarity with NFPA, ANSI, ISO 14001, ANSI Z10, OHSAS 18001.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure EHS directives, policies, and initiatives are incorporated at plant level.
  • Develop annual objectives and improvement plans with plant management.
  • Implement strategies for new or revised policies and regulations with plant management.
  • Conduct regular audits/inspections of plant operations, equipment, and work systems.
  • Collaborate with Safety Engineers and production staff to perform job hazard analyses and risk assessments.
  • Evaluate industrial hygiene monitoring to assess exposures to airborne contaminants and hazards.
  • Identify training needs and deliver sessions with Training and Safety Educators (TSE).
  • Organize and oversee plant safety committee meetings.
  • Investigate incidents with supervisors and lead investigations when necessary.
  • Communicate incidents and corrective actions promptly and effectively.
  • Monitor workers' compensation claims with HR to minimize lost days.
  • Participate with Security Team and review security measures as needed.
  • Track EHS metrics and communicate trends to management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support overall business strategy by ensuring all environmental, health and safety directives, policies, and initiatives are effectively incorporated at plant level.
  • Develop, implement, and execute annual objectives and improvement plans in conjunction with plant management.
  • Develop appropriate strategies for implementation of new or revised policies and regulations in conjunction with plant management.
  • Undertake, at regular, intervals audits/inspections of the plant (including inspections of machinery, equipment in use, and work systems in operation) with plant management to ensure compliance with corporate polices and regulations. Where appropriate, develop corrective and preventive actions with management team.
  • Collaborate with Safety Engineers, supervisors, and production employees to conduct job hazard analyses and risk assessments, and implement proper controls as necessary.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and manage industrial hygiene monitoring to assess employee exposures to airborne contaminants and physical hazards.
  • Identify plant environmental, health and safety training needs, develop appropriate resources, and execute training sessions for employees and management staff as required. Partner with Training and Safety Educators (TSE) to assure effective completion of training topics.
  • Organize and oversee plant safety committee meetings.
  • Support plant supervisors with the investigation of incidents. Where necessary, lead investigation process and/or collaborate with appropriate staff on serious incidents.
  • Communicate incidents and corrective actions in a timely, thorough, and effective manner.
  • Partner with Human Resources to monitor the status of all open Workers Compensation claims and coordinate with plant supervisors to minimize lost and/or restricted work days.
  • Participate on, and assist, the plant Security Team, including review of physical plant security and security situations as they develop.
  • Track and monitor plant environmental, health and safety metrics and communicate trends to management team as needed to drive performance.
  • Maintain environmental, health and safety records to ensure adherence to corporate polices and/or regulatory requirements. Including, but not limited to, permit documentation, OSHA 300 log, incident records, safety metrics, training, inspections, and evaluations.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering team on environmental, health and safety requirements in the design, introduction, installation, use and decommissioning of manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials.
  • Communicate where necessary with various external agencies or resources (Government Agencies, Insurers, etc.).
  • Ability to read, understand, and decipher technical information in determining applicability to plant processes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and manage numerous work tasks of a diverse nature.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts, including influence of cross-functional teams to gain consensus.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

    • Knowledge and understanding of environmental, health and safety regulations, concepts, and best practices.
    • Knowledge and experience with relevant consensus standards such as NFPA and ANSI, and systems such as ISO 14001, ANSI Z10 and OHSAS 18001.
    • Experience with and knowledge of behavior based safety concepts.
    • Strong Computer Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
