Job summary

Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) in Washington, DC seeks a Coordinator, Public Affairs to support ITI's communications and digital activities, coordinating with the communications and digital leads to execute external messaging across media, social platforms, and other public channels.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a communications-related field.
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in communications, PR, digital communications, or public affairs.
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (LinkedIn, X/Twitter) and digital content.
  • Experience with website CMS, email tools, analytics, and basic graphic design preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily execution of ITI's communications and digital strategies.
  • Monitor media coverage and policy developments; prepare reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain media lists, calendars, and communications databases.
  • Assist with drafting and distributing press materials and talking points.
  • Support media requests with scheduling, materials, and approvals.
  • Create content for ITI’s social channels and assist with scheduling and engagement.
  • Publish and update content on ITI’s website and policy materials.
  • Assist with digital content calendars across owned channels.
  • Support analytics and reporting on performance and engagement.
  • Coordinate creation of graphics and short-form video using Canva/Adobe.
  • Collaborate with ITI teams to translate priorities into content.
  • Support digital amplification of policy initiatives and events.
  • Maintain workflows for deadlines and deliverables.
  • Provide general administrative and project coordination support.

About the role:

As a Coordinator on ITI’s Public Affairs team, you will support the organization’s communications and digital activities, working closely with the communications and digital leads. You will help execute ITI’s external communications across media, social media, digital platforms, and other public-facing channels, while supporting the team’s efforts to elevate ITI’s policy priorities, advocacy work, and member companies.

This role is ideal for an early-career professional who is organized, curious, digitally fluent, and interested in the intersection of technology, communications, and public policy. You will contribute to a wide range of communications activities, including media relations, website and social media content, digital analytics, and communications project coordination.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Support the day-to-day execution of ITI’s communications and digital strategies.
  • Monitor media coverage, policy developments, and relevant industry news; prepare and distribute media monitoring reports and other updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain and regularly update media lists, reporter information, communications calendars, and other communications databases and tracking tools.
  • Assist with the development, editing, formatting, and distribution of press releases, statements, media advisories, talking points, newsletters, and other communications materials.
  • Support incoming media requests by helping coordinate scheduling, background materials, internal approvals, and follow-up.
  • Draft and develop content for ITI’s social media channels and support social media scheduling, publishing, monitoring, and engagement.
  • Publish and update content on ITI’s website, including policy materials, news, events, publications, staff information, and other organizational content.
  • Support development and maintenance of digital content calendars across ITI’s website, social media, and other owned channels.
  • Assist with digital and social media analytics, including compiling performance data and preparing reports that help the team evaluate content and audience engagement.
  • Support the creation and adaptation of graphics, digital assets, short-form video, and other visual content using tools such as Canva, Adobe, or similar platforms.
  • Coordinate with other ITI teams to collect information and translate organizational priorities into timely communications and digital content.
  • Support digital amplification of ITI policy initiatives, events, programs, member activities, and other external-facing work.
  • Help maintain effective workflows for communications and digital projects, including tracking deadlines, approvals, deliverables, and follow-up.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator supporting the Executive Vice President, Public Affairs, including project coordination, preparation of materials, tracking action items, and support for department-wide initiatives.
  • Perform other duties, including administrative and project coordination support, as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, political science, public policy, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1–3 years of relevant professional experience in communications, public relations, digital communications, social media, journalism, public affairs, or a related field. Relevant internships or comparable experience may be considered.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital content development, including LinkedIn, X/Twitter, and other relevant platforms.
  • Familiarity with website content management systems, email marketing tools, digital analytics, and basic graphic design or video editing tools is preferred.
  • Interest in media relations, digital communications, public affairs, technology policy, or advocacy.
  • Ability to learn and communicate complex policy issues clearly and accurately for different audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning new digital tools and platforms.

Pay range:

$55,000 – 60,000
