  • Maintain and continuously update a database of certified MBEs relevant to the company’s trades and scopes of work.
  • Conduct proactive outreach to MBEs (phone, email, in-person) to share upcoming bid opportunities and prequalification requirements.
  • Build long-term, trust-based relationships with MBEs and serve as a primary point of contact for questions about bidding, contracts, and project requirements.
  • Represent the company at community, industry, and supplier diversity events focused on minority and small business participation.
  • Work with project managers, estimators, and procurement staff to incorporate MBEs into bid lists and subcontracting plans, consistent with project goals and client requirements.
  • Track MBE participation at the project and company level, including bid invitations, awards, contract values, and payments.
  • Maintain accurate records in spreadsheets or diversity tracking software, ensuring data integrity and timely updates.
  • Prepare regular MBE participation reports (e.g., monthly, quarterly) for internal leadership and for clients or agencies, as required.
  • Stay informed about local, state, and federal MBE requirements applicable to the company’s projects, including certification standards and contract goals.
  • Assist with documentation needed for compliance audits, client reporting, and closeout, including proof of certification and utilization summaries.
  • Share feedback from MBEs with internal stakeholders to improve bid processes, communication, and onboarding of diverse subcontractors.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Communications, Public Administration, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2–5 years of experience in construction, procurement, community outreach, supplier diversity, or a related field.
  • Experience working with MBEs or other diverse business enterprises (e.g., WBE, DBE, SBE) is preferred.
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills; able to work collaboratively with subcontractors, community partners, and internal project teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to conduct outreach calls, give presentations, and prepare clear reports.
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and data sources at once.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with CRM or supplier tracking tools is a plus.
