Purpose

Job Description

Under the supervision of the Admitting Director, the Coordinating Manager Level A plans and coordinates administrative operations for the Admitting Department. The position oversees staff training and development, ensures compliance with hospital policies and manages the efficient delivery of admitting services.

Specific Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative supervision for the Admitting Department staff, overseeing patient bed assignments, expiration processes, and handling of patient valuables. This includes direct supervision of Tour 3 staff.
  • Plans, develops, and conducts training programs to maintain staff proficiency in admitting procedures, EPIC, and customer service. Implements standardized training programs for both current and incoming staff.
  • Is responsible for employee supervision, performance evaluation, and development of personnel in the Admitting Department.
  • Manages inventory and orders departmental supplies, ensuring the Admitting Department is well-stocked with necessary materials for efficient operations, including forms, office supplies.
  • Supervises studies related to admitting processes and analyzes modifications to improve departmental operations. Makes recommendations and implements changes to enhance efficiency.
  • Coordinates with other departments to evaluate and improve the admission process, focusing on streamlining bed assignments and reducing wait times.
  • Consults with medical and nursing staff to clarify any ambiguities in bed requests or bed assignments, securing necessary documentation and timely verification.
  • Ensures that compliance manuals for the Admitting Department are current and that policies and procedures for bed assignments, patient valuables, and expiration processes are strictly followed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Psychology or Rehabilitation Counseling; and one (1) year of full-time experience in medically-oriented health care and medical support systems environment; or
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines listed in “1” above; and two(2)years of full-time experience in medically-oriented health care and medical support systems environment; or
  • A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience, in which each year of relevant training and/or experience can be substituted for 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university. However, all applicants must at least have a Bachelor’s degree or its educational equivalent.

  • Minimum math calculations
  • Ability to prepare death certification via Electronic Vital Events Registration System (eVITAL)
  • Ability to communicate with Senior Leadership of the Hospital in addition to the Medical Examiner, Physicians, Nursing, and Hospital Support Staff as needed
