Job summary

Northern Plains Electric Cooperative is seeking a full-time Business Manager to direct financial management, accounting, budgeting, risk management, HR, and administrative services. You will support the Board of Directors and General Manager to ensure financial integrity and sustainable operations.

The role requires strategic leadership, collaboration with departments, and strong reporting capabilities to drive organizational goals and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business with 10 years of accounting/finance experience.
• Experience in cooperative accounting is highly preferred.
• Experience managing employees and coordinating work activities.
• Experience utilizing comprehensive accounting platforms or ERP software.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class C driver's license.
• Experience requirements may be adjusted if appropriate education/experience is demonstrated.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements financial strategies aligned with cooperative objectives.
• Directs all financial functions including cash management, forecasting, budgeting and financial planning.
• Drives initiatives to administer credit facilities by analyzing borrowing needs and lender relationships.
• Provides guidance, coaching and performance management to team members.
• Delivers accurate, timely reports to leadership and the Board to guide strategy and oversight.
• Maintains complete financial records in accordance with applicable policies and reporting requirements.
• Oversees internal controls and annual audits with external auditors.
• Supports rate strategies and cost allocation for rate development.
• Collaborates with leadership to support budgeting and financial planning across departments.
• Protects the integrity, confidentiality and security of member and billing data.
