Houston Texans Culinary team is dedicated to creating delicious, nutritious meals that are easy to prepare and enjoy. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Line/Production Cook to join our dynamic team in our kitchen. If you have a love for culinary excellence and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we’d love to hear from you.

As a Line/Production Cook at the Texan’s Cafe, you will play a crucial role in meal preparation and production in a high-volume, commercial kitchen setting. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food quality, consistency, and safety while working collaboratively with our culinary chefs.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Prepare batches of food that are cooked to order or kept warm until served, including various cuisines.
  2. Operate large-volume cooking equipment such as griddles, tilt skillets, grills, impingers, or combi-ovens.
  3. Prepare and cook food according to instructions on order slips or verbal directions; verify quality and quantity of all orders.
  4. Multitask by cooking several different orders simultaneously, ensuring all items meet the manager’s standards.
  5. Maintain sanitation, health, cleanliness, and safety standards in food prep areas, cooking, and dishware.
  6. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  7. Learn and adhere to sanitation and workplace safety regulations, food handling techniques, and cooking procedures.
  8. Work efficiently and collaboratively within the kitchen team, especially under pressure.
  9. Follow established recipes and standards to prepare high-quality meals.
  10. Ensure consistency in food preparation, portioning, and presentation.
  11. Keep the workspace clean, organized, and compliant with food safety regulations.
  12. Assist with inventory management, including receiving and storing deliveries.
  13. Focus on taste, presentation, and quality to meet high standards.

Qualifications
  1. ServSafe Certified or City of Houston Food Manager Certification.
  2. High school or vocational coursework in kitchen basics, preferred.
  3. Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a line cook in a high-volume, a’ la minute cuisine restaurant.
  4. Proven experience as a line chef, production chef, or similar role in a commercial kitchen.
  5. Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  6. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  7. Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
  8. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  9. Flexibility to work weekends as needed.
  10. Passion for food and culinary excellence.
  11. Availability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  12. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  13. Physical demands may include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, extended walking, and standing. Uniforms and PPE may be required.
