Lemontree Healthcare is hiring a Cook at St Joseph Medical Center in Houston. The role runs 6:00am–2:30pm, Monday–Friday with every other weekend.

Salary ranges from $15.00 to $16.50 per hour, full-time, providing patient and staff meals in a hospital setting. Responsibilities include cooking to standardized recipes, plating, labeling leftovers, inventory, and maintaining food safety and sanitation standards.

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience in a healthcare, restaurant, or institutional setting preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of scratch cook experience strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to follow recipes and meal plans accurately.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Good communication skills and ability to follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes.
• Assist with meal plating and food presentation.
• Store leftovers and prep food using proper labeling and within timeframes.
• Inventory food items as assigned.
• Maintain appropriate records of food temperatures, production, waste and usage.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area, following food safety guidelines (HACCP).
• Communicate to Management all food quality and availability issues, equipment status, and staffing issues.
• Demonstrate accurate, clear and timely verbal and written communication.
• Participate in team meetings, providing input on menu suggestions, food quality, and patient feedback.
• Speak up when team members exhibit unsafe behavior or performance.
• Promote safety for patients, families, visitors and co-workers.

Salary Range: $15.00 To $16.50 Hourly

The Cook plays a key role in preparing nutritious, high-quality meals for our patients and staff. You will work in collaboration with the kitchen team to ensure meals are prepared following dietary guidelines and special requests for patients. This position requires a passion for cooking, an understanding of food safety, and a commitment to contributing to a positive, supportive environment for both patients and staff.

A minimum of 1 year of scratch cook experience is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Culinary

• Participate in team meetings, providing input on menu suggestions, food quality, and patient feedback.
