Job summary

Saratoga View is seeking a dependable Dietary Cook to join our assisted living community. You will help prepare nutritious meals and ensure they meet individual dietary needs for residents.

Responsibilities include following menus, portioning meals, and assisting with service, all while maintaining safety and cleanliness in a fast-paced kitchen. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma (or equivalent), is 18+, and can obtain a Food Handler’s Permit.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Current Food Handler’s Permit or ability to obtain one as required.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Experience in dietary/food service or institutional cooking preferred (healthcare/senior living is a plus).
• Ability to follow recipes, menus, and dietary requirements.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation.

Your responsibilities will include:Prepare meals according to planned menus, standardized recipes, and dietary requirements.Prepare meals that are appealing, nutritious, and properly portioned.Follow special diet orders, therapeutic diets, and resident dietary changes.Assist with meal service and ensure meals are served accurately and on time.Prepare snacks and appropriate substitute meals when requested.Review menus and prepare ingredients and food for upcoming meals.Maintain appropriate food, supply, and inventory levels.Help keep kitchen, food preparation, storage, and equipment areas clean, organized, and sanitary.Follow food safety, infection control, and sanitation procedures.Assist with special meals, celebrations, and resident events.Communicate dietary changes and resident needs with nursing and other team members.Complete required documentation and follow established facility policies and procedures.Treat every resident with dignity, respect, and compassion.What We’re Looking ForHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.Current Food Handler’s Permit or ability to obtain one as required.Must be 18 years of age or older.Previous dietary, restaurant, food service, or institutional cooking experience preferred.Experience preparing meals in a healthcare, senior living, assisted living, or long-term care setting is a plus.Ability to prepare food in large quantities while maintaining quality and consistency.Ability to follow recipes, menus, written and verbal instructions, and special dietary requirements.Strong attention to cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation.Reliable, dependable, and able to work effectively as part of a team.Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment and responding to changing resident needs.Why This Role MattersOur residents count on our dietary team for more than a meal.
