Job summary

Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego is seeking a full-time Cook for the Food / Nutrition team at our Hillcrest campus. This role requires availability for varied shifts including mornings, evenings, and weekends to support patient meals and on-site dining.

You will prepare, portion, and inventory meals, follow food safety standards, and participate in menu development while collaborating with clinical staff to meet patient needs.

Qualifications

• Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
• 6 months of experience in quantity food preparation or graduation from an approved culinary program.
• Food Handlers Card or ServSafe Certificate or able to pass Food Handlers Test given by verified manager or designee.

Responsibilities

• Cook and assist in volume food production for patients, cafeteria, and events.
• Follow safe food handling, portion control, and meal assembly procedures.
• Assist with menu development and inventory management; maintain sanitation standards.

This is a full-time position located at our Scripps Mercy campus in Hillcrest. Must be available to work a varied shift (start time will be dependent upon the department's need and will include both morning and evening shifts) and varied schedule including weekends.

Our Cook team coordinates, preps a volume production of meals for patients, cafeteria, catering/special events. Performs job functions to support the following Food Service operational systems; safe food handling, volume food production, menu development and modification, meal assembly and portion control, inventory management and infection control/sanitation. Follows established policies and procedures to ensure compliance with food and safety regulatory requirement

Required Qualifications:

• Must be able to speak, read, and write English

Preferred Qualifications:
