Job description

Job Objective

To prepare and cook food products as specified by the Manager in Charge of the Shift while adhering to the specifications and procedures contained in the Cooking Section of the Church's Operating Standards Manual (the "OSM"). Accomplishes tasks in a timely, clean, and orderly manner.

Essential Job Functions:
Primary Functions:
  • Sets up the batter table, collects all necessary smallwares, and prepares batter mix.
  • Ensures that call sheets are complete, posted, and used.
  • Checks all equipment and reports any malfunctions to the Manager in Charge.
  • Balances fryers' color and adds sufficient shortening to maintain proper levels.
  • Filters and cleans fryers at designated times, following all safety guidelines.
  • Pans sufficient chicken for operational needs.
  • Prepares and cooks all food as dictated by business needs and under the direction of the Manager in Charge.
  • Ensures all food products meet specifications, procedures, and quality standards, including strict adherence to holding times.
Secondary Functions:
  • Maintains a clean work area, practicing "clean-as-you-go" while following sanitation and safety guidelines.
  • Verifies that all necessary products and supplies are stocked and available.
  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of the cooler.
  • Performs all other tasks as assigned by the Manager in Charge of Shift.
Physical Demands:

Lifting Requirements: Medium to Heavy (up to 50 pounds frequently, 75 pounds occasionally).

Cook must be able to:

  • Stand and/or walk continuously for up to eight hours while preparing and cooking food, retrieving stock, and transporting items.
  • Frequently lift and stack 35-50 pounds, occasionally carry up to 75 pounds, and lift and carry up to 50 pounds in various tasks.
  • Lift and carry trash bags, push/pull equipment, and climb ladders or stools as needed.
  • Stoop, squat, reach overhead, forward, and underneath, and handle various shapes and sizes of items.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, management, and team members.
