Responsibilities

A cook and dietary aide prepares delicious, nourishing, and well-balanced meals to meet the daily nutritional and special dietary needs of each guest. Responsibilities include:

• Following standardized recipes.
• Preparing foods according to menus developed by registered dietitians.
• Cooking or preparing appetizing, well-presented, and nutritionally-adequate meals at proper temperatures and times.
• Using food supplies and equipment efficiently to prevent waste.
• Preparing and maintaining food alternatives for guest preferences and meal refusals.
• Supervising culinary staff related to food storage, preparation, tray assembly, and cleaning.
• Supervising culinary employees in the absence of the chef or dietary manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• At least one year of experience as a cook or dietary aide in an institutional food service setting preferred.
