Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain range equipment (stoves, ovens, grills, fryers).
  • Plate and present dishes to meet standards.
  • Sanitize cooking surfaces, utensils and equipment after use.
  • Collaborate with other cooks to ensure timely service.
  • Assist in opening and closing duties and station setup.

A Range Cook is a specialized staff member responsible for operating a managing cooking equipment in a kitchen such as stoves, ovens, grills, and Fryers. Part of team that works under Cooks, Sous chef and head chef. This position is on the Banquet/Event crew preparing meals for our conference and catering operations.


$22.64/hr


This position is a 9-month temp position 40 hours a week with possibility of renewal depending on operational needs.


Key Responsibilities


  • Cooking and Seasoning: Prepare and cook menu items using various cooking methods (baking, frying, grilling, sautéing, etc.) according to recipes and quality standards

  • Ingredient Preparation: Chop, slice, marinate, and season ingredients as needed for dishes assigned to their station

  • Quality Checks: Inspect ingredients and prepared dishes for freshness, safety, and compliance with recipes before serving

  • Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain stoves, ovens, grills, fryers, and other range equipment efficiently and safely

  • Plating and Presentation: Garnish and arrange dishes to meet presentation standards

  • Sanitization: Clean and sanitize cooking surfaces, utensils, and equipment after use to maintain food safety

  • Team Support: Collaborate with other cooks to ensure timely and efficient service during peak hours

  • Opening and Closing Duties: Assist in setting up stations before service and cleaning/organizing after closing


Required Qualifications


  • Two years satisfactory cooking experience in an a la carte restaurant or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience is necessary.

  • Working knowledge of cooking methods, processes, and materials is necessary.

  • Ability to follow prescribed recipes is necessary.

  • Willingness to work a flexible shift is necessary.

  • Standards of personal hygiene consistent with sanitation rules and regulations is necessary.


Occasional lifting of 26 to 75 pounds is required.
