Description

Do you enjoy working with food? Are you inspired by putting a smile on a students face? Do you desire a position that has an opportunity to learn and excel?If yes, Lakemary is looking for a PRN-Cook for our Food Service Program. In this role you will prepare entrees and dishes for full meal preparation. This role functions under general supervision of a Registered Dietitian.

Cook Responsibilities:

  • Nutrition:
    • Meet the nutritional needs of residents
    • Meet individual, cultural, and religious food preferences of the residents.
    • Portion out food, cut to size for appropriate servings according to portion control standards
    • Understanding food preparation and services.
    • Prepares and cooks food and bakery goods using the standardized recipes and safe food handling practices. Prepares and cooks food to meet special dietary needs
  • Preparation:
    • Works on the tray line during breakfast andlunch. Ensure proper portions.
    • Serve breakfast
    • Utilizes and properly rotates any over production of food items.

An ideal candidate for this position has:

  • Knowledge of:
    • Food quality standards and health, sanitation, and safety procedures.
    • Foods and food preparation.
    • The operation and care of kitchen equipment.
    • Safety and sanitary measures involved in meat handling.
    • Materials, methods, and equipment used in preparing and serving food on a large scale.
    • The principles of inventory control.
  • Ability to:
    • Lift and carry heavy objects.
    • Understand, learn and follow instructions and procedures, both orally and in writing.
    • Accurately weigh and measure ingredients.
    • Understand and follow standardized recipes.
    • Perform basic math computations; to accurately weigh and measure ingredients.
    • Operate an oven.
    • Work long hours in rooms at high temperatures.
    • To keep records.
    • Clean and sanitize work area.

Cook Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Be at least 18+ years of age
  • Prior food service experience preferred

Other Job Details:

  • Days and hours will vary.
  • Starting pay: $ 16.00/hour
