Job summary

The position requires 2 years of institutional cooking experience and a valid ServSafe certificate. High school diploma or GED is required. Preference is given to hospital cooking experience.

Responsibilities

• Practices Serve Safe Sanitation according to guidelines at all times.
• Prepares catering functions and maintains quality by ensuring meals are prepared on time and as ordered.
• Prepares patient meals according to specific diets and ensures they are ready for tray line.
• Ensures proper food temperatures in line with state and federal guidelines.
• Prepares cafeteria meals according to the specified menu.

Job Description

Shriners Children’s Chicago has an opportunity for a Cook to join our cafeteria team. The position of cook; with dishwashing responsibilities provides for the preparation and distribution of food to patients, visitors and staff of Shriners Hospitals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Practices Serve Safe Sanitation according to the guidelines of Serve Safe is practiced at all times.
• Prepares catering functions and consistently maintains quality by ensuring catering functions are prepared on time and to what the customer has ordered
• Prepares patient meals in accordance with specific diets and is prepared at meal time and are ready on time for tray line.
• Ensures proper temp of all food served in accordance with state and federal guidelines
• Prepare cafeteria meals according to specific menu

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma / GED
• 2 Years Institutional Cooking.
• ServSafe Food Safety Certificate

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hospital cooking experience

The pay range for this position is $21.24 - $31.88.

Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
