Job summary

Taher, Inc is growing and is seeking a Lead Cook to join our Elementary School team. You will follow recipes, manage inventory, and lead a kitchen crew in a fast-paced school environment.

This role offers guaranteed hours with no nights or weekends, competitive compensation, and daily lunch, reflecting Taher's commitment to work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Prior lead cook or chef experience in K-12 or food service preferred.
• Strong communication skills for team leadership and safety.
• Ability to train staff and supervise daily kitchen operations.
• Proficient computer skills for ordering and inventory.
• Ability to lift 35 lbs and endure standing a full shift.

Responsibilities

• Follow standardized recipes and write menus.
• Ensure meals meet quality, are properly prepared and timely.
• Manage ordering, receiving, storing and inventory control per procedures and HACCP.
• Reinforce USDA regulations.
• Conduct cost control analysis and monitor menu costs.
• Control waste and manage costs and budget performance.
• Utilize time management to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

• Ensuring all meals meet quality standards, are correctly prepared and within acceptable time limits
• Managing ordering, receiving, storing and inventory control of all perishable products following specific procedures and HACCP standards
• Reinforcing USDA regulations
• Conducting cost control analysis while monitoring product and menu costs
• Controlling waste and effectively managing cost and budget performance
• Using time management skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Performs other related duties as assigned by leadership
