Responsibilities

• Cook and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes.
• Set up workstation with needed ingredients and equipment.
• Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling items.
• Safely utilize a variety of utensils.
• Operate ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers.
• Bake, roast, broil, steam, and use various cooking methods.
• Arrange, garnish, and portion food per guidelines.
• Store food according to safety policies and procedures.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Maintain excellent customer service and positive attitude toward guests, residents, and coworkers.
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures, including food safety and sanitation.

About the Role:

As a Cook at our facility, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food according to recipes and production guidelines while adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. You will work independently to set up your workstation, prepare ingredients, and utilize a variety of utensils and equipment to cook and prepare a range of dishes. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and positive attitude will ensure that our residents and patients receive high-quality meals that meet their nutritional needs and exceed their expectations.

Responsibilities:

• Cook and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes

• Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment

• Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items

• Safely utilize a variety of utensils

• Operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers

• Bake, roast, broil, steam, and use a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods

• Arrange, garnish, and portion food according to established guidelines

• Properly store food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures

• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils

• Maintain excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards guests, residents, and co-workers

• Adhere to Vered Healthcare Group's safety policies and procedures, including proper food safety and sanitation

Qualifications:

• Experience as a cook or in a related role required

• ServeSafe Certified, and LTC background preferred

• Proven knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations

• Demonstrates basic math and counting skills

• Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

• Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 25 lbs

• Must be able to pass level 2 fingerprinting with an Eligible status
