Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina is seeking a professional Cook to join our Columbia Presbyterian Community team. You will help create a warm, homelike experience for our residents through careful food preparation and presentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; ServSafe preferred.
• Experience in cooking and food preparation is essential.
• Knowledge of cooking temperatures for various foods (meat, vegetables, desserts).
• Excellent customer service and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up workstations with ingredients and equipment.
• Establish line for meals and plate according to resident diets.
• Prepare ingredients for cooking; chop and prep as needed.
• Ensure dishes are presented well and appetizing.
• Maintain a sanitized, orderly kitchen; monitor sanitation schedules.
• Keep temperature logs; monitor hot and cold storage.

Key Responsibilities Of a Cook

• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment


• Establish line for each meal period and prepare plates according to resident diets, prepare, all residents late trays.


• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)


• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served


• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen. Monitor sanitation procedures for daily, weekly and monthly schedules


• Monitor all hot and cold temperature logs daily


• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly


• Check quality of ingredients

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED - ServSafe Preferred


• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)


• Knowledge of cooking temperatures for various types of food (meats, vegetables, desserts, etc.)


• Excellent customer service skills


• One year cooking experience in a restaurant, healthcare or hospitality setting
