Job summary

Vierra Falls Church Nursing & Rehab is seeking a part-time Cook for the evening shift in Falls Church, VA. If you have culinary skills and reliability, join our team delivering compassionate care while ensuring meals meet residents' needs.

Responsibilities include reviewing menus, preparing meals, coordinating with Dietary Manager, following procedures, serving meals, and maintaining cleanliness. The role requires physical stamina and adherence to policies; Sundays 12:00pm-8:00pm is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Ability to review menus and prepare meals accordingly.
• Collaborate with Dietary Manager and Supervisor and implement changes.
• Follow established food procedures and policies.
• Complete forms, reports and administrative duties as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in establishing food production lines to ensure timely meals.
• Process diet changes and new diets from Nursing Services.
• Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus and recipes.
• Serve meals with proper portions and appearance.
• Maintain stock levels of food, supplies, and equipment.
• Perform daily cleaning and assist with special meals as required.

Salary Range: $20.00 To $25.00 Hourly

PT, Non-exempt, Essential Personnel: Mandatory Sundays 12:00pm-8:00pm.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to review menus and prepare meals accordingly
• Work with the Dietary Manager and Supervisor as necessary and implement recommended changes as required. Performs other duties, as assigned.
• Ensures that food procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
• Performs administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc. and submits to the appropriate party.

Major Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

• Assist in establishing food service production line, etc., to assure meals are prepared on time.
• Processes diet changes and new diets as received from Nursing Services.
• Prepares meals in accordance with planned menus.
• Prepares and serves meals that are appetizing and palatable in appearance.
• Assist in serving meals, as necessary, on a timely basis.
• Serves meals in accordance with standardized portion control procedures.
• Prepares food in accordance with standardized recipes, therapeutic diets and special diet orders.
• Ensure appropriate utensils and equipment are provided with the resident’s meal tray.
• Prepares and serves substitute foods to residents who refused foods served.
• Assists/directs daily cleaning duties in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Assists in food preparation for special meals, parties, etc.
• Ensures that stock levels of staple/non-staple food, supplies, equipment, are maintained at adequate levels.
• Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position; lift, push, pull, carry heavy objects. Stand for long periods of time, walk, bend and stretch.
