Job summary

Vierra Communities seeks a Part Time Cook in Arlington, VA, to support dining services for residents.

You will review menus, prepare meals, and collaborate with the Dietary Manager to ensure nutrition and portion control standards are met. The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and adherence to procedures in a compassionate care environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to review menus and prepare meals accordingly.
• Collaborate with Dietary Manager and Supervisor to implement changes.
• Ensure procedures follow established policies.
• Complete administrative forms and reports as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in establishing food service production line to ensure meals are prepared on time.
• Process diet changes and new diets as received from Nursing Services.
• Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus.
• Prepare and serve meals that are appetizing and palatable in appearance.
• Assist in serving meals in a timely basis.
• Serve meals according to standardized portion control procedures.
• Prepare food per standardized recipes and special diet orders.
• Ensure utensils and equipment accompany the resident’s meal tray.
• Prepare substitute foods for residents who refuse meals.
• Assist with daily cleaning duties per policies and procedures.
• Assist in food preparation for special meals or events.
• Maintain stock levels of staples and supplies.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to review menus and prepare meals accordingly
• Work with the Dietary Manager and Supervisor as necessary and implement recommended changes as required. Performs other duties, as assigned.
• Ensures that food procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
• Performs administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc. and submits to the appropriate party.

• Ensures that stock levels of staple/non-staple food, supplies, equipment, are maintained at adequate levels.
• Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position; lift, push, pull, carry heavy objects. Stand for long periods of time, walk, bend and stretch.
