Job summary

Colonial Gardens in West Columbia, SC is seeking a part-time cook who enjoys preparing meals, working with a team, and delivering a welcoming dining experience for residents.

You will help prepare and serve fresh, appetizing meals, follow safety standards, and contribute to a caring foodservice environment. If you’re passionate about food, teamwork, and delivering high-quality resident care, we’d love to have you on our team.

Qualifications

• ServSafe certificate or ability to obtain certification
• High School diploma or GED
• Culinary apprenticeship or training preferred
• One year in food preparation and therapeutic diets
• Must be 16+ (18+ for certain equipment in some states)
• Three years in healthcare, hospitality or service environment preferred
• CPR & First-Aid certifications preferred
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment

Responsibilities

• Prepare palatable foods that are appetizing in appearance

• Maintains a current ServSafe certificate (food services sanitation certificate) or able to participate in the food services sanitation training to become ServSafe certified
• High School diploma or GED accepted
• A culinary apprenticeship or training is preferred
• One (1) year job related experience including food preparation, full-line menu items and therapeutic diets
• Must be 16 years or older. In NC, must be 18 years or older if operating power-driven machines such as a meat slicer, mixer, etc.
• Three years’ experience in a healthcare, hospitality or service environment preferred
• Culinary arts experience preferred
• CPR & First-Aid certifications preferred
• Ability to work in an environment conducive to caring for residents without posing a substantial safety or health threat to self or others
• Ability to work well with others and promote a team environment
