Job summary

Park Place of St. John, part of the Providence Life Services family, is seeking a Part Time Cook to support our assisted living community in St. John, IN. The role focuses on preparing meals that meet federal, state, and local standards under the guidance of our Dietary Director.

Open-ended schedule; requires 1–2 years professional cook/chef experience; healthcare cooking is a plus but not required. A background check and drug screen are required.

Qualifications

• At least 1-2 years of professional Cook/Chef experience.
• Healthcare kitchen experience is a plus but not required.
• Pass a physical, drug screen, 50-pound lift test, fingerprint and reference checks.

Responsibilities

• Review menus prior to preparation and ensure menus are maintained per policies.
• Ensure dietary procedures are followed per established policies.
• Prepare meals that are palatable and attractively presented.
• Serve meals with proper portion control.

Description

The purpose of your role as a Cook is to prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, with our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Administrator and/or Dietary Director, to assure that quality food service is provided at all times.

• Review menus prior to preparation of food; and ensure that menus are maintained and filed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Ensure that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
• Assist in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished.
• Prepare meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
• Serve meals in accordance with established portion control procedures.

Requirements

• At least 1-2 years of professional Cook/Chef experience.
• Previous Cook experience for Healthcare environment ideal but not required.
• Pass a physical, drug screen, 50-pound lift test, fingerprint for criminal background and complete a reference check.
