Responsibilities include meal prep, station setup, quality control, and collaboration with the dietary team to ensure timely service.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a cook or in a commercial kitchen preferred.
• Knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen equipment.
• Experience using commercial kitchen tools safely.
• Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and safe handling practices.
• Ability to follow standardized recipes and dietary instructions accurately.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
• Excellent teamwork and communication with the dietary team.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook high-quality, nutritious meals per recipes, menus, and dietary guidelines.
• Set up workstations with ingredients, equipment, and supplies before meal prep.
• Wash, chop, measure, and prepare ingredients for efficient production.
• Cook using grilling, baking, roasting, steaming, sautéing, and boiling techniques.
• Monitor food for taste, texture, quality, and temperature during cooking.
• Plate and garnish meals with attention to presentation and portion control.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards at all times.
• Maintain a clean, organized kitchen, stations, and storage areas.
• Label, rotate, and store food and ingredients using FIFO practices.
• Monitor quality and freshness; discard items not meeting standards.
• Assist with inventory management and notify management when stock is low.
• Collaborate with dietary team to ensure timely meal service and resident satisfaction.

Edenbrook South is currently looking for a positive and reliable Cook who understands the importance of their role in delivering high-quality care through excellent meal preparation and service.

Position: Cook (Part-Time)

• Schedule: Must be flexible to work both AM and PM shifts (5:30 AM–1:30 PM and 12:00 PM–8:00 PM, every other weekend off).
• Pay Rate: $16.25/hour

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook high-quality, nutritious meals in accordance with established recipes, menus, and dietary guidelines.
• Set up workstations with all required ingredients, equipment, and supplies before meal preparation.
• Wash, chop, measure, and prepare ingredients to ensure efficient food production.
• Cook food using a variety of techniques, including grilling, baking, roasting, steaming, sautéing, and boiling.
• Monitor food during preparation and cooking to ensure proper taste, texture, quality, and temperature.
• Plate and garnish meals with attention to presentation, consistency, and portion control.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards at all times.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, workstations, and food storage areas.
• Properly label, rotate, and store food and ingredients following FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
• Monitor food quality and freshness, discarding items that do not meet quality standards.
• Assist with inventory management by tracking supplies and notifying management when stock is running low.
• Work collaboratively with the dietary team to ensure timely meal service and resident satisfaction.
• Comply with all local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Previous experience as a Cook or in a commercial kitchen preferred.
• Knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen equipment.
• Experience using commercial kitchen tools, cookware, knives, and bakeware safely.
• Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling practices.
• Ability to follow standardized recipes and dietary instructions accurately.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
• Attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality meals.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds, as needed.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Culinary training or certification is a plus.
• Experience in a healthcare, assisted living, nursing home, or senior living setting is preferred but not required.
