Overview
The Cook for the Friendly Kitchen plays a vital role by overseeing, planning, preparing, and cooking meals for the Burlington Community.
Responsibilities
- Creating weekly/monthly menus ensuring all food guidelines are met
- Prepare and serve meals on a rotation to provide a variety of well-balanced, nutritional meals
- Keep the Kitchen and Dining areas clean
- Clean up after meals (tables, chairs, floor, and kitchen areas)
- Assist in the storage and inventory of food and supplies
- Maintain all equipment, keeping a clean and sanitary area for food prep
- Ensure standard food safety and sanitation procedures are followed at all times
- Report any problems with equipment or concerns to the Corps Officers
- Maintain high levels of service while interacting with clients, volunteers, and staff
- Work with Corps Officers to maintain certification and permits according to city, state, and ordinances
- Maintain inventory of food
- Current Serve Safe certificate or willingness to acquire within 60 days
- Represent The Salvation Army's spiritual ministry and social mission
- Recognize the spiritual needs of individuals which require referral to Corps Officers
Qualifications
- Have a friendly and outgoing personality
- Able to fulfill the job duties in accordance with The Salvation Army
- Able to respect and promote The Salvation Army
- Have a High School diploma or GED
- Able to pass all background checks
- Completion of KeepSAfe abuse risk management training as required by the KeepSAfe policy and assigned by the supervisor
