Job summary

Monarch Mountain is seeking a Cook for the ski season in Salida, CO. This role supports the Food & Beverage department across Gunbarrel, Elmo’s, Sidewinder Saloon, and Java Stop, delivering quality meals in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include food preparation, teamwork, sanitation compliance, and guest interaction. Candidates must be able to lift up to 35 lbs and work at elevations up to 12,000 feet, with flexibility for weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
• Prior food preparation experience in a fast-paced environment is desirable.
• Knowledge of health and sanitation rules for food handling and safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all food items for multiple venues in a timely and consistent manner.
• Work as a team with other members of the Food & Beverage department.
• Observe health and sanitation rules and regulations for handling, cleaning, and safety.
• Keep all food items stocked, rotated, and prepared daily.
• Communicate with guests and process food orders quickly and courteously.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

The Food & Beverage Department is a fun and exciting way to join the ski industry and the Monarch family. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The Cook responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Prepare all food items for the Gunbarrel, Elmo’s, Sidewinder Saloon, and/or Java Stop in a timely and consistent manner.
• Work as a team with other members of the Food & Beverage department.
• Observe and practice all health and sanitation rules and regulation regarding food handling, cleaning, and safety procedures.
• Keep all food items appropriately stocked, rotated, and prepared every day.
• Communicate with Monarch Ski Area guests in a polite and professional manner as well as processing their food orders quickly and courteously.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Legal citizen of the United States or possess other proper work permit authentication.
• High School Diploma or GED required, college degree preferred.
• Ability to push, lift, and move up to 35 lbs.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and work with hot cooking appliances.
• Requires working at high elevation (up to 12,000’), with extended exposure to adverse weather conditions, such as severe cold, heavy snowfall, rain, strong winds and intense sun.

JOB TYPE: Winter Seasonal, Full and Part Time

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

• Compensation: Begins at $19 per hour, actual pay will be adjusted based on experience/length of service
