Job summary

DC Army National Guard seeks a Food Service Specialist to manage dietary needs and prep menus for Soldiers, in field or fixed facilities. You’ll learn to plan menus, prepare and serve food, and ensure food safety and sanitation, supporting units from small to large scale.

You will gain skills for civilian dining careers in kitchens or facilities with dining services, with potential to pursue cook, chef, meat cutter, or baker roles after training.

Qualifications

• Must enlist in the Army National Guard.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Interest in cooking, health, math or chemistry is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food according to Army recipes.
• Operate and clean field kitchen equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on kitchen equipment.
