Job summary

Hollywood Casino Gulf Coast in Bay St. Louis is hiring a Buffet Cook. You will be responsible for preparing meals consistently according to the Executive Chef's standards, maintaining a clean work area, and assisting in training new cooks. The ideal candidate should have at least three years of experience in a full-service restaurant and be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. The starting salary for this position is $15.00 per hour.

Buffet Cook – Responsibilities

• Consistently prepares breakfast, lunch, dinner, or hors d’œuvre to standards established by the Executive Chef.
• Ensures that work area is kept clean and orderly.
• Assists in training new Buffet Cooks.
• Must be able to stand a full shift.
• Exhibits a friendly, helpful, and courteous manner when dealing with customers or fellow team members.
• Performs any and all duties as assigned by Supervisor or a member of management.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years experience in a full service restaurant preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Apprentice for Certification preferred.
• Knowledge and ability to use all kitchen tools and equipment; ability to identify all products used in kitchen operation; ability to recognize spoiled or questionable products; ability to read, comprehend and execute recipes.
• Physical demands: team member must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs; requires standing, reaching, using hands to handle, talking, hearing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; requires close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
