Job description

The Cook III is responsible for the preparation of all food items for the Restaurant/Dining Outlets, Room Service, Employee Cafeteria, and Banquets while maintaining the highest standards to produce an appealing and appetizing product.

Responsibilities

Qualifications:

  • Previous supervisory responsibility preferred.
  • At least 7 years of related progressive experience or a culinary graduate with at least 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field.
  • Food Handlers Certification (must comply with State requirements).
  • Ability to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to work well in stressful high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to show initiative in job performance, including anticipating what needs to be done before it becomes necessary.
  • Maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Effectively handle problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Ability to assimilate complex information from various sources and adapt accordingly.
  • Effective listening skills to understand and clarify issues raised by co-workers and guests.
  • Ability to work with and understand financial information and basic arithmetic functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance in accordance with Aimbridge Hospitality standards.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including proper uniform and nametag.
  • Comply with Aimbridge Hospitality standards and regulations for safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Meet certification requirements related to food safety.
  • Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
  • Have thorough knowledge of menus and preparation standards.
  • Ensure timely food and station preparations to serve guests promptly.
  • Assist and supervise kitchen line operations during service to ensure efficiency, productivity, and quality; support any kitchen position as needed.
  • Supervise and assist in food preparation for Banquets, following Banquet Event Orders and coordinating with the Banquet Manager or Supervisor.
  • Supervise food preparation for the Employee Cafeteria as needed.
  • Ensure all food is prepared according to Aimbridge Hospitality standard recipes.
  • Maintain 'Clean as You Go' policy; oversee sanitation and cleaning schedules; keep storage areas neat and clean.
  • Supervise buffet breakdowns and kitchen line clean-up, ensuring proper food and equipment storage.
  • Ensure all employees practice safe work habits to prevent injuries.
  • Enforce hotel policies and house rules.
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures.
  • Ensure employees are attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to guests, managers, and colleagues.
  • Secure food storage areas, including meat lockers and walk-ins.
  • Keep the Employee Break room clean and organized.
  • Maintain high food quality standards and seek continuous improvement.
  • Assist in staff training on kitchen equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Attend management meetings as required.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by management.
