Job Description: Cook at Newrest
Newrest is seeking a Cook responsible for preparing and cooking meals for a major airline at George Bush International Airport, working with a globally renowned company.
Sign-on Bonus: $1000.00
Note: Must be flexible to work any shift, including overnight shifts, based on operational needs.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare food items according to recipes and standards to deliver outstanding service and profitability.
- Ensure the preparation station and kitchen are properly set up and stocked.
- Prepare food such as chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and making sauces.
- Report to the chef and follow instructions.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- Stock inventory and supplies appropriately.
- Assist in cooking menu items with the kitchen staff.
- Prepare food for service daily, adhering to quality standards.
- Maintain knowledge of menu and food products.
- Practice proper food handling and storage procedures per regulations.
- Manage and maintain designated food stations.
- Prepare requisitions for supplies and food items as needed.
- Care for kitchen equipment such as ranges, ovens, fryers, and utensils.
Cook Levels:
Cook II
- Perform all Cook I duties.
- Prepare cold food items like salads, fruits, dressings, and appetizers.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation.
- Ensure knowledge of menu and products.
- Manage food stations and handle equipment properly.
Cook III
- All duties of Cook I and II.
- Prepare, maintain, and monitor quality control for hot food items including meats, fish, sauces, and stocks.
- Inspect and select fresh ingredients for menu items.
Requirements:
- Culinary degree or related experience preferred.
- Desire to work in a challenging environment focused on customer satisfaction.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- 3+ years of experience in fine dining cooking preferred.
