Position

COOK II – State of New Hampshire Job Posting – New Hampshire Veterans Home, 139 Winter St, Tilton, NH 03276. Position #41697, $15.93 - $20.80 hourly.

Schedule

Full‑time first shift, 10:30am – 7:15pm, varying weekends with additional $2.00/hour.

Job Summary

Prepare and cook required foods following state and federal guidelines at the NH Veterans Home. Work in a team committed to providing quality of life for NH Veterans with dignity, honor, and respect.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent credential.
  • No license or certification required.
  • Must maintain neat and clean appearance and personal hygiene appropriate to duties.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of large‑scale food preparation, food service, and related health hazard precautions.
  • Knowledge of care and use of food service implements and equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow recipes and special directions.
  • Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Ability to work while standing under high temperature and humidity.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare foods according to approved recipes, menus, and required amounts.
  • Operate and clean all food service equipment according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Cleans and sanitizes production areas after each task.
  • Instruct staff on assigned tasks and instructs properly.
  • Supervise staff in absence of Food Service Director or Assistant Manager.
  • Explain simple work procedures, provide general work instruction, and assist other food service employees with routine work problems.
