Qualifications

  • Equivalent combination of 4 years of education and experience in food service management.
  • Must possess ServSafe certification from the National Restaurant Association and Certified Food Protection Professional.
  • Experience in supervising dietary/food service staff and maintaining quality, health, and food safety standards.
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and inventory control.
  • Familiarity with organizational structure, workflow, and standard procedures in a health care food service setting.

  • Conducts interviews, hires and trains new staff.
  • Oversees scheduling and timekeeping for the dietary department based on census, staffing and special needs.

  • Receives and responds to resident concerns about dietary services and reports to the Director of Food Services.
  • Makes procedures and inventory/supply planning recommendations to the Director of Food Services.
  • Inspects equipment for safety and reports issues.
  • Performs the Food Service Director’s duties in the Director’s absence.

Summary

The Manager of Dietary Services reports to the Director of Food Service and is responsible for supervision of staff, compliance with policies and procedures, and with maintaining current guidelines and regulations governing food and dietary services at the NH Veterans Home; ensures that quality nutritional services are provided on a daily basis.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education/Experience: Equivalent combination of 4 years of education and experience after completion of high school; education and experience must be in food service management.
  • License/Certification: Must possess ServSafe certification from the National Restaurant Association and Certified Food Protection Professional.

Responsibilities

  • Preforms interviews, hires, and trains new staff.

  • Inspects equipment for safety and reports any issues to the Director of Food Services.
  • Performs Food Service Director’s duties in the Directors absence or unavailability.
