Munson Healthcare is seeking a Cook II to join its culinary team in northern Michigan. The position focuses on preparing and presenting meals in a safe, sanitary manner, while supporting the hospital’s mission and patient care standards.

Responsibilities include following recipes, managing inventory, and ensuring timely meal service in a busy healthcare setting. Commitment to food safety and teamwork is essential.

• High school diploma or GED required or preferred; additional culinary education is a plus.
• Ability to read and expand recipes and understand inventory, ordering and food rotation systems.
• Demonstrates effective skills in all levels of food preparation, storage and presentation.
• Ability to work under time pressure, frequent interruptions, and noisy environments.

• Safety is a self responsibility. Know the physical requirements of the job and work within those guidelines. Perform job duties safely at all times, utilizing learned body mechanics and transferring/lifting techniques. Plan your actions to promote safety. Report any unsafe situation/equipment according to hospital procedure.

Qualifications

What’s Required

• High school diploma or GED preferred. Additional education in related culinary field preferred.

• Ability to work under elements of time pressure, frequent interruption of activities, and noise.

Additional Information

Munson Healthcare requires all employees be vaccinated or have lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella. MHC also requires all employees to receive a flu vaccine during the flu season in the year that they are hired and annually thereafter, or receive an approved medical or religious exemption.
