Job summary

Munson Healthcare in Traverse City, MI, is hiring a cook to prepare and present a variety of hot and cold foods for daily meal periods and special events. You will perform grilling, frying, seasoning, and portioning, while following HACCP and safety guidelines to ensure high-quality meals for patients and staff.

• May handle inventory, receive supplies, and prepare meals for special diets as required.
• Follows all food safety, HACCP policies and procedures; maintains clean and sanitized workstations.

A Day inthe Life

Accuratelyand efficientlyprepares,portions,grills, andpresentsa variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods: to include Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Special/Catered Events. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but management mayidentifyother responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

• Prepares, seasons andcooksmeats and vegetables using skill in frying,grillingand sautéing.
• Prepares, seasons andcooksstarches,vegetablesandother sidehot food items.
• Performs food preparation work for cooking, including seasoning.
• Measures andmixesingredients according to recipe.
• Deep fries, grills andsautésmeats, fish,vegetablesand other foods. Observes and tests foods being cooked by tasting,smellingand piercing.
• Portions food on serving plates.
• May add gravies,saucesand garnishes to servings.
• May select recipes per menu cycle, prepare bakery items, receive inventory, move and lift foodstuffs and supplies and prepare meals for customers requiring special diets.
• May clean and sanitizeworkstationsand equipment and must follow all Sodexho, client and regulatory rules and procedures.
• Responsible forfollowing food safety and physical safety policiesat all times, whileutilizingpersonal protective equipment (PPE) when required by management.
• Complies withallcompanyHACCP policies and procedures.
• Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
