The University is seeking a Cook I (Kitchen Production) to prepare, season and cook a wide variety of food for various food service units. This position also cooks according to recipes and requires knowledge of basic kitchen equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepares foodon hot or cold production line, adhering to the recipe's method of preparation.
  • Prepares fooditems from recipes for restaurant on a daily basis.
  • Coordinatesfood preparation needs with supervisor and p.m. staff.
  • Coordinatesordering needs with supervisor and p.m. staff.
  • Performs foodpreparation tasks such as sandwich, salad making and beverage preparation,following written standardized recipes.
  • Cleans andprocesses fruits and vegetables according to recipe’s specifications.
  • Labels, datesand stores fruits and vegetables in proper areas.
  • Assemblesnecessary ingredients to prepare orders.
  • Labels anddates products.
  • Assists coldfood production when possible.
  • Prevents crosscontamination of food products.
  • Weighs, labelsand dates all food items; stores in designated areas.
  • Cleanscountertops, windows, walls, shelves, drain screens and floor mats.
  • Cleans cookingutensils, grills, oven hoods, and other equipment used in food preparation;ensure all utensils are properly stored.
  • Emptiessanitizer and takes out trash.
  • Greets andserves customers in a friendly, courteous manner.
  • Actively solvesproblems wherever possible.
  • Worksharmoniously with co-workers, supervisors and management.
  • Additionalduties as assigned.

  • Knowledge ofjob content, practices, and procedures.
  • Skillsnecessary to fully perform all aspects of the job.

PhysicalRequirements:
  • Ability to occasionallylift, move, and transport a maximum of 50 pounds.
