Job summary

Michigan State University is seeking a Cook to join the Culinary Services team on the Brody Hall dining line. You will prepare, season, cook, and portion a variety of foods, ensuring high quality and consistent flavor for guest dining experiences.

Responsibilities include washing and measuring ingredients, cooking with grills/ovens/fryers, and maintaining safety and sanitation. Work hours are Mon–Thu 1:00 p.m.–9:30 p.m., with alternating weekends and adaptations during closures.

Qualifications

• Follow prescribed recipes.
• Working knowledge of cooking methods, processes, and materials.
• Two years satisfactory experience as a Food Service Worker or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
• Willingness to work a flexible shift.
• Standards of personal hygiene consistent with sanitation rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, and measuring food items for service.
• Cook dishes using grills, ovens, and fryers and season to ensure flavor and quality.
• Portion foods to exact serving sizes and maintain portion control.
• Maintain safety and sanitation, sanitize stations, and monitor food temperatures.
