Job summary

UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA is seeking a Cook I to prepare, season and cook a variety of foods for university food service units on campus. You will follow recipes, coordinate with supervisors and staff, and ensure safe food handling and presentation to customers.

The position offers full benefits, on-site work, and a 40-hour work week. Hours include evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, with a starting hourly rate of $16.50–$18.75.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency is required.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Knowledge of food service operations and large quantity food preparation.
• Skills to operate various institutional kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares food on hot or cold production line following recipes.
• Prepares items from recipes for daily service in the restaurant.
• Coordinates preparation needs with supervisor and staff.
• Performs food prep tasks such as sandwiches, salads and beverages.
• Labels, dates and stores fruits and vegetables as required.
• Maintains cleanliness of countertops, equipment and work areas.
• Greets and serves customers in a friendly manner.
• Assists with other duties as assigned.
