Job summary

Iowa State University Dining in Ames, IA is seeking Cook I to join our team across multiple campus dining locations. These roles offer 9, 10, 11 and 12 month contracts with varied schedules. You will prepare and cook food following recipes and production guidelines, supporting daily meal service and catering events.

We value food safety, teamwork, and hands-on kitchen work. You’ll train and support student staff, manage inventory, and help maintain clean, organized prep spaces.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food by following recipes and production guidelines.
• Support service operations during daily meal service and catering events.
• Maintain food safety standards and sanitation throughout the shift.
• Assist with training and guiding student employees and coworkers.
• Handle supplies and inventory; assist with deliveries and prep space organization.
