Job summary

University Housing & Dining is seeking Cook I to join the team at Hillcrest Marketplace in Iowa City. Under direct supervision, the cook will perform general cooking duties using standardized recipes and instructions, and support related preparation and sanitation tasks.

Shifts run predominantly 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm with weekends included; some openings require rotating weekend work. The role supports University Dining’s goal of wholesome, healthy, and tasty daily foods, with a focus on

Qualifications

• One year work experience in a customer service role.
• One year cooking experience in an operation required to have and maintain a food service license.
• Ability to follow instructions and read/write with clarity.
• Ability to foster a welcoming and respectful workplace environment.
• ServSafe course within one year of hire.
• Basic computer/keyboarding skills including email, and managing time accruals and absence requests.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and sanitize related preparation and sanitation tasks.
• Work under direct supervision and assist with additional duties as needed.
