Job summary

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions in Spotsylvania County, VA is seeking a Cook I – Restaurant to assist the Restaurant Chef in keeping operations smooth and food quality high. You will prepare made-to-order items for restaurant, room service, and outlets, while helping maintain a clean, safe kitchen and inventory control.

Ideal candidates bring hands-on culinary skills and a commitment to minimizing waste while delivering memorable dining experiences.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in a high-volume restaurant/food/concessions outlet production kitchen is preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy environment and meet deadlines with attention to detail
• Must be able to stand, lift up to 50 lbs, and work nights, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

• Prepare meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items using broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and other kitchen equipment
• Make pizza dough and sauces
• Ensure all food is prepared and served according to recipes, portions, timing, and presentation standards

Cook I – Restaurant

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is seeking a Cook I – Restaurant.In this role, you’ll work alongside the Restaurant Chef to help keep our restaurant and kitchen operation running smoothly. You’ll assist with preparing food for the restaurant, room service/Togo, and food outlet meals; help ensure each dish meets our quality and presentation standards before it reaches our guests; and support a clean, safe, and well-organized kitchen and storage environment. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys hands‑on culinary work, takes pride in food quality, and wants to be part of a team that minimizes waste while delivering memorable dining experiences.

Pay Rate: $15-$16/hour

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers, and a variety of other kitchen equipment.
• Make pizza dough and sauces.
• Ensure that all food and beverage products are consistently prepared and served according to the facility recipes, portioning, cooking, timing, serving, and presentation standards.
• Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly, and courteous service at all times.

WhatWe’reLooking For

• 1 + years of experience in a high-volume restaurant/food/concessions outlet production kitchen is preferred, or experience in a similar capacity.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment, work under pressure, and meet deadlines with particular attention to detail.
• Must be able to withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending, kneeling, lifting, and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs. without restriction.
• Ability to work on nights, weekends, and holidays.
