Job summary

Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort is seeking a General Store Cook to prepare and sell to-go items, salads and sandwiches in a fast-paced retail setting. You will follow established recipes, handle cash, and ensure a friendly guest experience in line with our guidelines.

The role involves operating a range of kitchen equipment, proper measurement, food safety/storage, and maintaining clean work areas. Pay ranges from $20.00 to $26.00 per hour with a $1 shift differential for night hours.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Ensure guests receive outstanding service and follow guest service guidelines.
• Prepare, package, serve and sell General Store to-go food items.
• Prepare salads, entrees, pastries and sandwiches; follow recipes and specs.

• Receive, thaw, store, heat and hold food items; maintain refrigeration and dry storage.
• Clean and care for kitchen equipment; manage waste and oil disposal.
• Operate POS/cash registers and follow cash-handling policies.

Overview

The General Store Cook will perform a combination of food preparation tasks and cash handling/sales transactions at the General Store.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that each guest receives outstanding service by creating a friendly environment and following Jackson Rancheria Guest Service Guidelines.
• Preparation, packaging, serving and selling of General Store “to go” food items.
• Preparation and packaging of salads, entrees, pastries and sandwiches.
• Prepare, season, finish and garnish all food in accordance with established recipes.
• Follow all recipes, specs, and control procedures.
• Complete food preparation duties – washing, chopping, slicing, peeling, marinating, preparing and baking food items.
• Operate kitchen equipment including slicer, steamer, deep fryer, ovens, broiler, grill, mixer, kettle, flat top, slow cookers, woks, griddles, braisers, ranges, salamanders, combination ovens, knives, and other equipment for food preparation.
• Use proper dry and liquid measurement tools and scales.
• Performs proper receiving, thawing, storage, proportioning, heating and holding, and re‑heating of food items.
• Maintain all refrigeration and dry storage areas to ensure proper handling, labeling, organization, rotation and safety of food products.
• Cleaning and proper care of all General Store Kitchen equipment, wares, fixtures and floors.
• Transports inside garbage and old cooking oil to outside dumpsters and bins.
• Operation of POS/cash registers.
• Compliance with all laws and regulations governing the sale of alcohol, cigarettes, gasoline and other products as instructed.
• Thoroughly understands and adheres to proper credit and cash-handling policies and procedures.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Experience in food handling/preparation and retail sales is desired.

Pay range: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour

*Shift Differential: Non-Exempt employees will receive a $1.00 per hour shift differential for any hours worked between 10:00pm and 6:00am.
