Job summary

Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Taylorsville, NC is seeking a dependable Cook to join our dietary team. The role involves preparing home-style meals aligned with resident dietary needs and following menus and safety guidelines.

You will work Monday–Friday with every other weekend required in a supportive skilled nursing environment, ensuring timely service and teamwork with dietary staff and nursing teams.

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience in healthcare or long-term care, restaurant, or institutional food service preferred.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and dietary guidelines.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• ServSafe certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Dependable attendance and a positive, team-focused attitude.
• Ability to work every other weekend as scheduled.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals according to planned menus and resident dietary needs.
• Follow recipes, portion control standards, and food preparation guidelines.
• Accommodate special diets and texture modifications as required.
• Monitor food quality and temperatures during preparation and meal service.
• Ensure meals are prepared and served in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Assist with food inventory, proper storage, and supply rotation.
• Work collaboratively with dietary staff, nursing teams, and facility leadership.

Position Overview

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, home-style meals while following resident dietary needs, planned menus, food safety standards, and sanitation guidelines. Schedule
