Job summary

Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Taylorsville, NC is seeking a dependable Cook to join our dietary team. The Cook prepares nutritious, home-style meals following resident dietary needs and safety guidelines. Full-Time, Monday–Friday with every other weekend.

You will collaborate with dietary staff, nursing teams, and facility leadership to deliver meals on time with quality and compassion. ServSafe certification is preferred or willingness to obtain.

Qualifications

• Experience cooking in healthcare or long-term care preferred.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety and dietary guidelines.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• ServSafe certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Dependable attendance and team-focused attitude.
• Ability to work every other weekend as scheduled.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals according to planned menus and resident dietary needs.
• Follow recipes, portion control standards, and food preparation guidelines.
• Accommodate special diets and texture modifications as required.
• Monitor food quality and temperatures during preparation and meal service.
• Ensure meals are prepared and served in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Assist with food inventory, proper storage, and supply rotation.

Position Overview

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, home-style meals while following resident dietary needs, planned menus, food safety standards, and sanitation guidelines. We are looking for someone who is dependable, organized, team-oriented, and takes pride in providing quality meals and excellent service to our residents.

Schedule

• Full-Time Position
• Monday through Friday
• Every Other Weekend Required
• Consistent schedule in a supportive skilled nursing environment
