Job summary

Ecumen Countryside in Minnesota is seeking a full-time Cook to prep, cook, and serve meals for residents, families, and staff. You will follow recipes, manage inventory, and ensure dietary needs are met with accurate portions and dedicated sanitation practices.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provides exemplary service to residents, families and guests.
  • Preps, prepares, cooks and serves meals to residents, families, guests and employees.
  • Operates and maintains kitchen equipment; reports shortages to supervisor.
  • Follows recipes and production guidelines for proper portions and leftovers.
  • Maintains inventory and a clean, sanitary work area; complies with regulations.
  • Stocking and rotating groceries to ensure fresh inventory.
  • Coordinates with department leaders for events and staffing.
  • Ensures special diets are prepared correctly and accommodated as requested.
  • Applies proper safety and sanitation techniques.
  • Collaborates with others in a demanding environment; performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Cook is responsible for proper food prep, cooking and service of food while recognizing special diets, resident's dietary needs and requests. This position maintains work areas in proper order and follows established policies and procedures of the facility while demonstrating high levels of service.

Opportunity Details
Schedule:
  • Full-Time
  • Shifts: 6:30am-3:00pm & 10:30am-7:00pm
  • 60-79 hours bi-weekly
  • Position works various weekdays, every other weekend & rotating holidays.
Pay:
  • The targeted pay range for this job is $19.50 to $21.50 per hour.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  1. Provides exemplary service to our residents, families and guests, ensuring all feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous service.
  2. Preps, prepares, cooks and serves meals to residents, families, guests and employees. Properly operates and maintains all equipment in the food preparation area. Reports production shortages/overages to the supervisor immediately.
  3. Accurately follows directions and recipes. Ability to convert recipes for various size groups. Follows production guidelines for best product usage, portion control and use of leftovers.
  4. Maintains adequate inventory of food and supplies notifying supervisor if they are missing something.
  5. Maintains a clean, sanitary, safe and efficiently organized work area. Complies with all federal and state regulations.
  6. Assists with stocking and putting away groceries as directed. Products will be labeled, dated and rotated ensuring an adequate, fresh inventory of food and supplies.
  7. Partners with department leaders to maintain awareness of facility special events and activities to ensure adequate product and labor are available.
  8. Ensures residents with special diets receive appropriate food. Accommodates resident requests promptly.
  9. Demonstrates proper safety and sanitation techniques as part of the work.
  10. Partners effectively with others in a demanding and changing environment, supports all employees within the community as directed by the leadership team.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Must be 17 years of age or older
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written
  • Ability to follow all safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the facility including but not limited to: Vulnerable Adult and Abuse Policy, HIPAA, Resident's Bill of Rights, Universal Precaution, AWAIR, OSHA, Right to know, SDS, ADA, HUD Policy and Procedures, Fair Housing laws and regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Commercial kitchen experience
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment
  • Previous senior care experience
  • Serv Safe certification or equivalent
  • Certified Food Protection Manager
