Job summary

Abraxas Youth and Family Services seeks a dependable, team-oriented cook for the second shift in a residential facility in Morgantown, PA. The role involves preparing large quantities of meals, following recipes, and maintaining sanitation standards.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of relevant experience, with background checks and TB/drug testing required. Weekend availability is a must.

What You’ll Do

Help prepare large quantities of a variety of food including meats, fish, poultry, gravies, cereals, soups, vegetables and other foods. You will use various methods of cooking and seasoning and adheres to proper preparations methods.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Cook food as directed in the operational menu plan for the facility food service operation. Follow recipes and maintain accurate production records.
• Prepare meals according to scheduling and sanitation standards. Ensure the quality assurance of all foods and supplies.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:

• High school diploma or GED and minimum one (1) year office related experience
• Candidates with relevant experience are preferred.

Other Qualifications:

• At least twenty-one (21) years of age
• Must have a valid Driver's License
• Physical exams include TB and drug testing.
• Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
• Satisfactory completion of background screening and applicable pre-employment checks, including but not limited to employment and/or personal reference and driving records.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Must be availableto workweekends!

• Ability to stand, walk, and remain active and engaged throughout an 8-hour residential shift
• Ability to work in a secure, controlled-access residential facility environment
• Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to safety emergencies
