Job summary

The Gardens at Luther Park Community is seeking a full-time cook with experience in long-term care or healthcare settings. The role requires flexibility to work Thursday, Friday, Saturday and every fourth Wednesday at The Gardens at Luther Park Community in Des Moines, IA.

Responsibilities include preparing meals, serving in dining rooms and room trays, recording temperatures, and daily cleaning per schedule. Healthcare food service and ServSafe certification are valued.

Qualifications

• Must have ServSafe certificate or acquire within allotted time frame.
• Experience with therapeutic and modified diets preferred.
• Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment physical, TB test and Drug Screen.
• Experience working in a long-term care or healthcare facility setting preferred.
• Must fluently read, write, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items for the current meal.
• Place hot food items on cart to go upstairs to steam table.
• Place items on steam table and take and record temps.
• Serve lunch to Small Dining Room, Room Trays, then Large Dining Room.
• After lunch, wash steam table and bring pans down to be washed.
• Start prep for next meal.
• Check menu for next day to see what needs to be pulled from freezer.
• Take food temps and record.
• Daily cleaning following posted schedule.
• Sweep and mop work area, then secure doors and keys.

• Do daily cleaning by followingposted cleaning schedule
• Sweep and mop work area beforegoing home, lock all doors and place keys in locker
