Job summary

Luther Park Community in Des Moines, IA is seeking a full-time cook with experience in long-term care or healthcare settings who can flexibly work Thursday, Friday, Saturday and every fourth Wednesday at the Gardens at Luther Park Community.

Responsibilities include preparing meals, serving in dining areas, recording temperatures, and daily kitchen cleaning. Excellent benefits accompany this position, including insurance, 401k with company match, paid time off, and tuition assistance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• ServSafe certificate or ability to acquire within allotted time frame.
• Experience with therapeutic and modified diets preferred.
• Background check, pre-employment physical, TB test and drug screen required.
• Experience in long-term care or healthcare facility setting preferred.
• Must be able to fluently read, write, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items for the current meal.
• Place hot food items on cart to go upstairs to steam table.
• Place items on steam table and take and record temps.
• Serve lunch to Small Dining Room, Room Trays then Large Dining Room.
• After lunch, remove pans from Steam Table and wash pans.
• Start prep for next meal.
• Check menu for next day to see what needs to be pulled from freezer.
• Take food temps and record.
• Daily cleaning by following posted cleaning schedule.
• Sweep and mop work area before going home, lock all doors and place keys in locker.
