Job summary

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa is seeking a Cook to maintain high culinary standards set by the executive chef. The Cook will be responsible for food preparation, seasoning, and ensuring all kitchen duties are executed efficiently. Candidates should have at least one year of experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Strong communication skills and knowledge of sanitation are essential. The position may involve lifting heavy items and working under noisy conditions, including exposure to the casino floor.

Job Description

The Cook is responsible for maintaining the standards established by the executive chef. This includes preparation and presentation of food, tasting, and sanitation.

Essential Duties
  • Cutting or peeling fruits and vegetables
  • Boiling water for rice or pasta
  • Making sure food on the menu is available and prepared
  • Seasoning food
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a high volume kitchen assisting in the preparation of food.
  • Must possess knowledge of sanitation and quality food preparation techniques. Must be flexible and able to work all kitchen areas.
  • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able interact effectively with other staff to produce a positive guest experience.
Work Environment

Duties and responsibilities are typically performed in the back of house of the casino, which can be fast‑paced with excessive noise. Also, there may be times where you will need to be on the Casino Floor or pass through this area. On the Casino Floor, you may be exposed to casino‑related environmental factors including, but not limited to, second hand smoke and excessive noise.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
