Job summary

GENERAL PURPOSE

As a member of the MillerKnoll Food Service team, you'll assist with culinary and service with a focus on the team goal of providing customers an experience where food, service, cleanliness and surroundings are of exceptional quality. You'll work with the team to provide customers an excellent dining experience by contributing to food preparation, attention to detail, and ensuring freshness of products. You'll match the set pace of work, pitching in where needed to ensure the smooth functioning of the kitchen, dining services, and facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Handles proper rotation of perishable foods to ensure freshness of product and to eliminate waste.

  • Helps in planning of meals and special events.

  • Keeps kitchen clean and in excellent order.

  • Keeps storeroom clean and organized.

  • Maintains verbal and written communication with chef regarding departmental concerns.

  • Prepares breakfast, lunch, break food, dinner and special events.

  • Puts away stock and collects stock when necessary.

  • Uses food wisely with minimal amount of waste.

  • Cooks assigned to Marigold must be willing to work flexible schedules that include nights and weekends.

  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

  • One of the following is required: (1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example), (2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency.

  • Two years culinary arts or 5 years restaurant cooking experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to move and lift equipment and boxes.

  • Ability to work independently, without immediate supervision.

  • Dependable and cooperative. Able to function as part of a team.

  • Able to lift 50lbs.

  • Ability to bend, twist and stand for periods of up to 10 hours.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use office automation/communication software and tools currently being used in the HMI office environment.

  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without accommodations.
