Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Ohio is seeking a full-time food service professional to support hospital kitchen operations. You will obtain ingredients, prepare meals, and ensure timely delivery in coordination with dietitians and supervisors.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, basic math skills, and food handler certification within six months. Strong teamwork and customer service abilities are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or 1-year equivalent in commercial production food service.
• Must have basic math skills (addition, subtraction, and simple multiplication).
• Must read, write, and speak English.
• Food handlers’ certification within 6 months of hire.
• Experience in a hospital setting, large institution, or commercial kitchen preferred.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Obtains appropriate ingredients from storage areas for recipes when necessary.
• Responsible for lifting and carrying medium to heavy food and equipment.
• Plans cooking schedule with supervisor and/or dietitian to ensure food will be ready at specified times.
• Confers with dietitians regarding modified diet preparation and use of reviews menu and special orders.
• All other duties as assigned.

What You Will Do:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Licensure / Certification: Food handlers’ certification within 6 months of hire

• Experience: Relevant work experience in a hospital setting, large institution or Commercial kitchen preferred

• Knowledge of food preparation by recipe preferred

• Ability to complete assignments under direct supervision.

• The ability to work independently as a part of a team. Strong attention to detail and good organization skills.
